French sustainable sneakers brand Veja continues to boost its international retail presence. At the end of April, Veja opened its first monobrand store in London, and a second New York address in Brooklyn.

Veja’s first London store is located at 45 Monmouth Street in Seven Dials, an area with a central square from which seven streets fan out like the spokes of a wheel, linking Covent Garden to Soho. The interiors of the 140-square-metre store were styled jointly with Deidra Hodgson, a London-based interior designer, combining locally sourced materials with 5,000 bricks made in France.

The store is also home to a cobbler’s workshop, like the Veja stores in Paris, Bordeaux, Berlin, Madrid and Brooklyn, where sneakers and shoes of any brand can be repaired and cleaned.

In April, four years after opening a first New York store in Nolita, Veja has inaugurated a second address in the U.S. city, located in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. The interiors of the 213-square-metre store were curated by architecture studio Office JDY. They preserved existing elements, like a bare brick wall, concrete flooring and a wood-beamed ceiling, adding wooden counters and plaster display cases. The store also features the first Veja shoe repair service in the USA.

Veja was founded by Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion in 2005. It manufactures its sneakers in Brazil, and recently opened a production plant in Portugal. In 2022, Veja reported a revenue of €180 million, with over 4 million pairs of shoes sold worldwide. Veja is distributed via its own monobrand stores, and 3,000 multibrand retailers worldwide.
