The bridal fashion company Pronovias has initiated an employment regulation file affecting 85 employees at its central services offices in El Prat de Llobregat in Barcelona, representing 25% of its 332-person workforce.
The company attributes this measure to an “adverse situation in recent years” caused by the pandemic. However, it asserts that the 98 million euros in losses recorded in 2023 “do not compromise its solvency,” according to a statement released on Tuesday.
Pronovias has launched a three-year strategic plan to boost sales, focusing on three key areas: growth in strategic markets, such as the United States; differentiation and optimization of its product portfolio; and the creation of a new distribution strategy.
The Spanish bridal fashion giant unveiled its new image at the latest edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, held in April, coinciding with its 60th anniversary celebration.
As part of these changes and reorganization, the company appointed Marc Calabia as its new CEO. Calabia, who joined from Springfield in the spring of 2023, emphasized in an interview with FashionNetwork.com during BBFW a few weeks ago, the brand’s intention to be a reference in the sector, not just a global leader.
At the end of 2022, Bain Capital and MV Credit took control of the company following the exit of BC Partners. In April 2023, the new owners announced the creation of a new board of directors to guide the company in its new phase, along with a capital injection of 211 million euros to reduce the company’s debt and implement its recovery plan.
