Campaign group releases details of anniversary Fashion Revolution Week

Campaign group Fashion Revolution kicks off its 10th anniversary Fashion Revolution Week on 15 April with the world’s largest fashion activism movement saying there will be 10 days of citizen action, “bringing together communities around the world through a series of engaging local events across 75 countries”.

Fashion Revolution

The theme this time is How to be a Fashion Revolutionary and it said it will invite its global community “to share a decade of learnings on what it means to be a part of the revolution, including their achievements, advice and their hopes for the future”.

Included in the events will be “the community builders, creative thinkers and organisers that have helped drive” its last 10 years.

People will be able to listen to “the untold stories of Fashion Revolutionaries and share your own using our new #WeAreFashionRevolution campaign”.

This campaign invites the community to share what being a Fashion Revolutionary means to them. Using its social media templates and story prompts, participants are encouraged to reflect on their journey in fashion activism, list their hopes for the future or share advice for new Fashion Revolutionaries.

There will also be a Fashion Revolutionary workshop series to help develop new skills. The free global workshop series, “designed and led by fellow Fashion Revolutionaries”, will cover subjects such as valuable communication, community-building, advocacy and education skills. Some highlights include the ‘How to be a Campaigner’ virtual interactive workshop on 17 and 19 April; and the ’How to be a Storyteller’ workshop on 16 and 23 April, that “breaks down the ingredients behind every good story, combining global case studies with creative prompts”.

On 20 April, there will be a Mend In Public Day. The group said that “amidst busy Saturday shoppers, we will repair our slightly worn but still loved pieces, from torn pockets to split seams, and spark conversations on how to make Loved Clothes Last”. Events have been confirmed across the UK, Hungary and in Australia, with global partners including Love Not Landfill, Street Stitching, Boss and KĂ©tfecske.

An additional series of online and offline events throughout the week will include clothing swaps, upcycling competitions, film viewings and panel discussions.
