President Biden spoke at Pointe Du Hoc in Normandy to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and praised the bravery and sacrifice of American soldiers who scaled the cliffs during the operation. Biden said it was important for modern Americans to continue the legacy of those who lost their lives in World War II by helping to “protect freedom in our time.”
