In fiscal 2023, the revenue of French cosmetics group Bogart was on par with the previous year at €292.4 million, penalised by exchange rate effects and the 2022 closures of 26 stores in France and Belgium. But the group’s profitability improved.

In 2023, Bogart’s EBITDA grew by 10.3% to €42.8 million. Specifically, EBITDA for the group’s fragrance and cosmetics business, which includes the Carven and Jacques Bogart brands, improved by 38.5% to reach €11.5 million, notably thanks to strong performances in Asia, Europe and Latin America. EBITDA for the Bogart Beauty Retail division, which includes selective perfumery chain April, was €27.3 million, up from €26.7 million a year earlier.

Net income, group share, was €3.8 million, compared to a loss of €10.4 million a year earlier.

Bogart, which earlier in the year bought French fragrance and art of living brand Rose & Marius, said “it will keep an eye out for new opportunities to continue to expand and gain market share in Europe.”

The group is planning to unveil its 10th brand in the autumn, and said that, at the start of 2024, it added nine independent perfumeries to the HC Parfumeries chain in Germany.

Bogart currently operates 447 stores in total, of which 47 in France, 91 in Germany, 44 in Israel, 69 in Slovakia, 193 in Belgium and Luxembourg, and three in Dubai.
