Casablanca appoints its first marketing director, Txampi Diz

Txampi Diz, who parted ways with Balmain last month, has joined Casablanca, bringing a renowned name from the luxury industry to the brand. Launched in 2018 in Paris and London by Franco-Moroccan designer Charaf Tajer, Casablanca has created the internal role of marketing director for the first time, to be assumed by the Spanish manager starting this April.

History seems to be repeating itself as Txampi Diz was also the inaugural marketing director at Balmain. In 2017, following its acquisition by Mayhoola fund, the company restructured and established the role to fuel its development. In this capacity, Diz “established the first marketing and communications team and oversaw a series of innovative marketing initiatives focused on entertainment, which enhanced Balmain’s visibility, reached new audiences, and supported its expansion and growth,” Casablanca highlighted in a press release.

Having followed Balmain for 17 years, Diz’s journey with the brand began in 2007 when he brought it to KCD, where he worked, making it one of the communication agency’s main clients. There, he also managed other luxury brands and later became vice-president, overseeing KCD’s Paris office as general manager before moving to Balmain.

His impressive resume is particularly appealing for a brand like Casablanca, which has been a fixture on the Paris runway since January 2019 and has quickly established itself as a new name to watch in luxury within just six years. Originally focused on menswear, the brand is celebrated for its ultra-chic pieces with vibrant prints and exquisite materials, drawing inspiration from the world of sports, particularly tennis, and retro glamour. It quickly expanded into womenswear and a broad range of accessories, now distributed through its e-commerce site and over 300 multi-brand stores globally, including Le Bon MarchÊ, Galeries Lafayette, Saks, Maxfield, Selfridges, Browns, and Net-A-Porter.

“It didn’t take long to realize that Txampi was the right person for us. Of course, we were already familiar with his experience overseeing memorable shows, collaborations, and campaigns. Once we started talking to him, it became very clear that he shared our determination to push boundaries as our expectations of what a luxury house should look like today have evolved,” explained Frederick Lukoff, who has led Casablanca since June 2023.

“I can see that he is as passionate as I am about building this maison. His expertise and extensive career in the fashion industry will solidify the future we are creating here at Casablanca Paris,” added founder and creative director Charaf Tajer.

For his part, Txampi Diz stated, “Charaf, Frederick, and the rest of the Casablanca team impressed me with the house’s recent collections and the company’s rapid growth. I knew it was the right role for me as I learned more about their strategy and goals for the coming years.”
 
The company has recently restructured, transitioning into the newly formed Casablanca Paris Ltd, and securing fresh investments. This strategic strengthening of the management team began with the appointment of CEO Frederick Lukoff in June, followed by Marc Schmidt as digital director, Ludovic Le Gourrierec as commercial director, and now Txampi Diz.
