Mugler has opened its first store in China. The Parisian label owned by L’Oréal has recently opened a store showcasing both its ready-to-wear and fragrance collections on the first floor of Shanghai’s Réel shopping mall, on Nanjing West Road, a busy shopping street in Jing’an District. Mugler had previously deployed this concept in its Parisian flagship on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, which closed a few years ago. The new Shanghai store is now the label’s only monobrand store worldwide.

Inside Mugler’s Shanghai store – Mugler

The store has been designed by British architect Sophie Hicks in collaboration with Mugler’s Creative Director Casey Cadwallader, mirroring the label’s distinctive aesthetic. The interiors’ sharp lines are emphasised by louvres and shelves in brushed aluminium, while the colour palette is characterised by Mugler’s iconic blue, and by a black carpet running diagonally across the floor.

The store is home to Mugler’s Spring/Summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection, featuring signature items like suits and sculptural dresses, as well as a range of knitwear and everyday essentials in denim, alongside a selection of leather accessories including handbags and shoes.

The fragrance range features the label’s high-end perfumes, like Les Exceptions, a collection of six scents developed by Jean-Christophe Hérault, as well as Angel and Alien, Mugler’s best-selling fragrances. This year, the label is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and has recently launched the Alien Hypersense perfume. The latter was unveiled in a multi-sensory pop-up store overlooking the Saint-Lazare rail station in Paris, and was advertised with a video starring South Sudan-born US model Anok Yai.
