Multiple people shot outside Eid event in Philadelphia
Several people attending an event celebrating the end of Ramadan have been injured in a west Philadelphia shooting, police say.
The shots were fired outside a mosque observing Eid al-Fitr, the day that marks the end of the Muslim holy month.
Four people have been arrested and multiple guns have been recovered, local ABC station WPVI-TV reported.
CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, reports that the shots were fired after an argument broke out at the gathering.
At least one victim was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the network reported, and every available police officer in the city was called to the scene.
A news conference from police and city officials is expected.
A police source told CNN that the attack was not a mass shooting connected to the Muslim celebration, but rather an exchange of gunfire between two groups outside the mosque.
At least one police officer fired shots at a gunman, CNN reported.
