Sunspel collaborates with Cutler and Gross for summer eyewear style
British heritage luxury fashion brand Sunspel has collaborated with independent eyewear brand Cutler and Gross for spring/summer eyewear.
The one style, available in tortoiseshell, black and pewter grey, features a heavy brow line and tonal lenses that complement the acetate frame.
We’re told the two brands were drawn together by sharing “a longstanding dedication to exceptional craftsmanship” and each pair is handmade in Cutler and Gross’s factory in the Italian Dolomites.
The eyewear launch coincides with one of the busiest periods in Sunspel’s history as the brand steps up its US expansion drive that now numbers four stores, with three opening within the last 12 months.
Its second physical West Coast store opened in Los Angeles last month, on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake. This followed the success of its debut West Coast store at the Marin Country Mart, north of San Francisco, last November.
On its LA debut, Sunspel CEO Raul Verdicchi hailed the firm’s arrival there as a “milestone [that] confirms our commitment towards the US market.”
The brand has also unveiled a collaboration with Nigel Cabourn and last year was given the ‘Made in the UK’ award at the Walpole Awards after “demonstrating a strong commitment to the development of British manufacturing and accelerated expansion of the brand outside of the UK”.
