The leading brand of Inditex is adding a Japanese flair to its children’s wear. Following the recent launch of its
‘Timelesz’ line, Zara continues to enhance its kids division with the introduction of a new collection of “jinbei.” This traditional Japanese summer garment, reminiscent of a kimono, is designed specifically for children.
Now available online and in select boutiques, the collection features two different models: a romper with a V-neck and short sleeves for babies aged one to nine months, and a two-piece set for babies aged nine to 18 months, priced at €19.95 and €22.95 respectively.
The garments are crafted in three distinct designs for each style, ranging from geometric prints to floral motifs, and a navy blue color block option. The entire capsule is made primarily from organic cotton certified by OCS or viscose and has been produced in Spain.
With this launch, Zara continues to elevate its product offerings, focusing on its international expansion strategy targeting Asian markets and solidifying its children’s wear segment.
Although Zara’s children’s division has been integral since the brand’s inception, it started to gain significant momentum in 2020 following the closure of Massimo Dutti‘s children’s line. This strategic move was intended to streamline and enhance Zara’s offerings for young children. By the end of 2022, the initiative was further bolstered by the complete absorption of Kiddy’s Class, Inditex’s children’s fashion subsidiary, thereby simplifying the overall structure.
Founded in 1974, Zara had a retail network of 1,811 stores by the end of last year, encompassing both company-operated and franchised points of sale. Since its inception, Zara has been part of the Galician Inditex portfolio, alongside brands such as Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Pull&Bear, Oysho, Zara Home, and Lefties.
Zara, which reports its financial results together with Zara Home, the group’s home and decor brand that also features a children’s line, recorded a 10% increase in sales in the fiscal year 2023 compared to the previous year, reaching €26.05 billion.
